In the winter of 2011 I came up with an idea inspired by American weddings. In the US people spend a lot of time and effort to their wedding day. I think it's amazing and inspirational. In my country, the Netherlands, it's not so usual to make such a big event of your wedding. I have no idea why because it's a once in a life time event (at least, I hope!).
A few weeks ago I made an illustration for wedding blog Velvetine Online. That brought to my attention that there really is a lack of creative wedding invitations. Time for a change, right?
The last couple of weeks I've been cooking up some ideas for personal, custom illustrated wedding invitations. My idea is to create portraits of the bride and groom, add handwritten text and create one of a kind wedding invitations!
I was aiming on the Dutch market at first but maybe it's something for other countries too? I would love it if you could let me know what you think of this idea.
In the meantime, here are two example invitations:

Go, go, go Marloes!!! These are lovely and I'm sure the demand is there to have a personal, well designed card for the wedding. A woman here in Weimar started to make wedding cards and now she is just doing this. So many ask her to make these cards!! She even has an employee!! :)

Er is wel vraag naar hoor :) maar mensen maken er niet zoveel gebruik van omdat het extra geld kost en ook meer moeite denk ik. Sommige mensen hechten meer waarde aan een kaartje dan anderen dus vandaar dat die markt niet zo groot is maar zeker wel bestaat (tenminste, ik heb zeker al 2 opdracht voor een geboortekaartje en 1 opdracht voor trouwkaartje gekregen!
