The Serpent

This week at Ten Paces and Draw was villains week! After a lot of cute drawings I was really in the mood for something more sinister. :)
I got a sketch made by Joanna Barnum portraying the scene with Eve and the snake. The snake (also known as the serpent) being the oldest villain in history.

Dress up doll: Tom Haverford (Parks and Recreation)

I made a dress up doll this week of Tom Haverford of ‘Parks and Recreation’, for Ten Paces and Draw. When I was young I always liked dress up dolls but I think they're mostly made for girls. I think guys might like this one too. :)

The illustration/dress up doll is inspired by a scene from the tv show Parks and Recreation.

Standing in the way of control

I made this illustration based on a song by The Gossip called Standing in the way of control. It was a challenge for Ten Paces and Draw, of which I'm part of.

Ten Paces: mastercopy

Some new work I made for Ten Paces and Draw. The theme was 'mastercopy', which meant we had to pick an artwork and sketch it in our own way. I picked 'Girl with the pearl earring' by Johannes Vermeer. I got a sketch by the very talented Michele Rosenthal which I interpreted myself in what you see below. I worked for hours on 'Luncheon on the grass' and if I had more time I would have worked on it a couple of more hours. I got absorbed by it!

Happy Halloween!

These drawings below are made for Ten Paces and Draw. I really love Halloween but it's not really celebrated in the country I live in, the Netherlands. Too bad! We're missing out on a great party!

Happy Halloween!

Ten Paces and Draw

I participate in a wonderful initiative set up by Alyssa Nasser, called Ten Paces and Draw. Every week there's a theme. You make a sketch fitting that theme, send it in and you get someone else's sketch to finish into an illustration.

I got a sketch (on the left) and made it into the illustration on the right.
It's fun to do because I get the train my skills and thought process.

You can see my sketch here.
And my final illustration here.
